Fire has razed the national immunization office (NPI) of Rogo Local Government Area of Kano State, destroying items worth millions of naira.

Chairman of the local government, Mubarak Bashir Fulatan, who confirmed the incident, said vaccines, storage facilities and documents were razed by the fire, adding that the cause of the incident was yet to be ascertained.

Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board in a statement by its spokesman, Maikudi Muhammad Marafa, said the local government has directed its works department to do an assessment report of the incident for appropriate actions.

The Executive Secretary of the State Primary Health Care Management Board, Dr. Tijjani Hussain, represented by the Program Manager, SERICC, Dr. Habib Tijjani Gwarzo, described the incident as very unfortunate, saying it would cause a setback on the performance and conduct of routine immunization in the area.
