Early morning multiple fire outbreaks which occurred on Chistmas day in different parts of Lagos have rendered about 20 families homeless and alsodestroyed properties worth millions of Naira.

The first two fire incidents were recorded at Moboluwaduro Street and

Modupeola Street, both located in Ejigbo area of Lagos.

While the one at Moboluwaduro Street allegedly destroyed seven rooms and rendered about seven families homeless, the second incident at Modupeola Street razed down eight rooms which were occupied by six tenants.

Similarly, a night club located at No. 73 Tokunbo Street, Lagos Island was

completely destroyed by fire.

Some residents of Modupeola Street alleged that the fire incident in the

street was as a result of sudden surge in electricity supply to the area,

while an eye witness attributed the Moboluwaduro Street incident to an

explosion from a generating set.

The witnesses in all the fire incidents alleged that efforts by people in

the areas to salvage the situations were fruitless as the raging fire

spread to other apartments .

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), South-West region, Ibrahim Farinloye who confirmed the fire incidents, however said that no life was lost in the outbreaks.

He disclosed that another fire gutted a two-storey building at Okota area

of Lagos, adding that the fire destroyed the three topmost flats of the

building.

“All the fire incidents did not cause any injury on anybody but the they

displaced about 18 families,” he stated.
