A travel and tourism company, BFD Travel and Tours, has clarified circumstances surrounding the temporary suspension of its operations in Qatar by the country’s authorities.

In a statement on Friday, the caretaker of the company, Mr. Emmanuel Nwachukwu, confirmed that the suspension was carried out by the Qatar Ministry of Interior following an immigration-related incident involving some members of a tour group organised by the firm.

Nwachukwu said BFD Travel and Tours has operated in Qatar for more than 15 years, offering travel and tour services in compliance with local laws and regulations.

According to him, the company organised a group tour in November 2025, during which over 200 visitors from Nigeria travelled to Qatar.

“After the group’s arrival, it was reported that more than 30 individuals failed to comply with the terms of their entry into the country,” he said.

He explained that the Ministry of Interior subsequently suspended the company’s operations on a temporary basis, pending efforts to identify and trace the affected individuals.

Nwachukwu denied any prior knowledge or involvement in the actions of those concerned, stressing that neither he nor the company authorised any breach of immigration regulations.

“I had no knowledge of any intention by the individuals involved to violate Qatari immigration laws. Their actions were carried out independently and without the consent of the company or its management,” he said.

He reaffirmed the company’s respect for Qatari laws and expressed willingness to cooperate fully with relevant authorities to resolve the matter.

“We remain committed to lawful operations and are ready to work with the appropriate agencies to ensure a swift and transparent resolution,” Nwachukwu stated.

He added that the clarification was issued to reassure the public, business partners and authorities of the company’s commitment to compliance, transparency and responsible business conduct.
