Dried fruits and vegetables are a strange though very lucrative business that is slowly gaining ground in Nigeria.

Blossom Natural Food Industries is solely engaged in the selling of dried fruits and vegetables.

The fruits and vegetables showcased include pawpaw, pineapple, apple, lemon, orange, mango, banana and many more.

According to the representative of Blossom Natural Food Industries, Mr. Benjamin Oguchie, “When you buy the dried fruits, it can be eaten immediately, because although it is dried, the nutrients are still there. For example, the dried pawpaw can be eaten with yoghurt.

“The only difference between these and the ones in the market is just that, these are dried, while the ones from the market are fresh. The original taste of the fruits, however is still there, because the preservatives used on them are natural.”

Although, this business started five years ago in Abuja, the market value of the product is conducive and thriving.

Mr. Oguchie, also said “people like it; they want to taste it because it is new and the nutrients and the taste are still there, especially the dried pawpaw and dried pineapple.  To use some of the produce like lemon, you boil it and allow it to steep before using.”
