In a bid to combat unemployment, particularly among young people, a tech and creative hub in Nigeria, MSwitch is to create 2,000 remote job opportunities for Nigerians across various sectors.

Speaking at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MSwitch and AfriLAB in Abuja, MSwitch Co-Founder, Mrs Zainab Salami, emphasized that the initiative aims to enhance the capacity of young creatives in Nigeria.

Mrs. Salami highlighted that the program is designed to equip young Nigerians with the necessary tools and an enabling environment to thrive, fostering their contributions to the country’s economic growth.

“Beyond job placements, this initiative is focused on empowering young professionals with the resources required for long-term success. We are investing in infrastructure, setting up fully equipped co-working spaces with 24/7 electricity, high-speed internet, cutting-edge technology, and industry-standard tools to enhance productivity. Additionally, participants will undergo intensive training to develop in-demand job skills and connect with global employers.”

She further noted that the initiative would not only tackle unemployment but also position Nigeria as a key player in the global digital economy.

“By bridging the gap between talent and opportunity, we are not just addressing unemployment—we are positioning Nigeria as a global hub for digital and creative excellence. This initiative will enhance Nigeria’s presence in the global digital economy, attract international employers, and create sustainable career pathways for young Nigerians.”

AfriLAB’s Chief Executive Officer, Ajibola Odukoya, a key development partner in the initiative, highlighted that one of its core objectives is to reduce brain drain by bringing global opportunities to Africa.

“We’ve observed a significant brain drain, with many talented Africans leaving the continent in search of better opportunities. Our goal is to reverse this trend by providing world-class job opportunities locally. By working on global projects from their home countries, Africans can innovate for their local communities while maintaining international relevance.”

MSwitch Co-Founder, Mr. Salami, underscored the importance of providing young Nigerians with access to meaningful opportunities.

“Nigeria has an abundance of young talent, but the challenge has always been access to opportunities. While opportunities exist, success often depends on one’s network and exposure. This initiative aims to bridge that gap, ensuring that talented Nigerians have the platform to succeed.”
