As the demand for organic food products increases across the globe, Dantata Foods and Allied Products Company Limited is set to support smallholder farmers to adopt the new techniques of regenerative agriculture.
The food processing company has launched a community engagement with farmers and traditional leaders to pilot the new initiative in the Bebeji Local Government Area of Kano State.
Speaking at the palace of Bebeji District Head, the Company’s General Manager, Corporate Services, Alhaji Sunusi Bature said the advantages of regenerative agriculture include improving biodiversity, soil moisture retention, and carbon sequestering that produces healthy foods for human consumption.
He said the increase in demand for organic food products worldwide attracts premium prices and increases the income of the smallholder farmers who grow their produce through regenerative agriculture.
Responding on behalf of the farmers, the village head of Tariwa community, Sarkin Fulani Malam Suleiman M. Lawan, expressed their readiness to participate in the regenerative agriculture scheme and thanked the company for choosing Bebeji as the pilot location in Kano State.
