OCP Africa fertilizer Nigeria Limited and three Nigerian agricultural research institutes have signed a Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) for the development of special fertilizers for oil palm and tomato production.
The Managing Director of the OCP Africa Fertilizer Nigeria Ltd, Mohamed Hettiti signed the pact with the chief executive officers of the three research institutes yesterday in Abuja.
The chief executives were Dr Abayomi Olaniyan of the National Horticultural Research Institute (NIHORT), Ibadan, Oyo State, Dr Celestine Ikuenobe, Nigeria Institute for Oil Palm Research (NIFOR), Benin, Edo State and Professor Veronica Obatolu of the Institute of Agriculture Research and Training (IAR&T), Ibadan, Oyo State.
Mr Hettiti said the MoU is the cumulative result of a lot of hard work, research and several coordinated effort between OCP Nigeria and the partners.
Alhaji Bashir Abba Kassim of the Farm Input Support Services of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said the MoU would mark a turning point in the production of the two crops, which local demand is growing.
