First Bank Managing Director (MD), Mr. Segun Alebiosu, has commended female bankers for turning the nation’s banking industry into a global model.
Speaking during a grand soiree organised by the Association of Professional Women Bankers (APWB) in Lagos, Alebiosu acknowledged the hurdles female bankers face daily, which according to him, include but not limited to brain drain, platform instability, operational glitches, and customer service challenges.
The First Bank MD, in his keynote address, however urged female bankers to remain resilient and to focus on mentoring the next generation of bankers to sustain the sector’s growth.
“I want to commend our women in the banking sector, for turning the Nigerian banking industry into a global model.

“I want to also use this occasion to recognize the challenges faced by women in the industry. They include brain drain, platform instability, operational glitches, and customer service challenges. Do not be deterred by these challenges, I want you to remain resilient and focus on mentoring the next generation of bankers to sustain the sector’s growth,” he stated.
The First Bank MD, who was represented by Oluseyi Olufeso, Executive Director of First Bank, said he will continue to support the Association for what it represents.
Earlier in her welcome address, APWB Chairperson, Funke Feyisetan Ladimeji, lauded her colleagues for their resilience and innovation in the financial sector.
