The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced the safe arrival of the first batch of pilgrims from the state in Madina, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, for the 2026 Hajj exercise.
According to a statement issued by the board’s Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman A. Dederi, the pilgrims departed from the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport aboard a Max Air flight on Thursday night and arrived safely at Madina Airport at about 7:35 a.m. Nigerian time.
The statement said a total of 558 pilgrims were transported on the inaugural flight, including 333 male and 225 female pilgrims.
The board said the pilgrims were drawn from four local government areas of Kano State, namely Dala, Gwale, Ungogo and Fagge.

It expressed gratitude to Allah for the successful journey and commended the efforts of officials and stakeholders involved in the airlift operation.
“The Kano State Pilgrims Board is pleased to announce the safe arrival of the first batch of Kano State pilgrims to Madina for the 2026 Hajj exercise,” the statement said.
The board prayed for a successful Hajj exercise and urged the pilgrims to conduct themselves peacefully throughout their stay in Saudi Arabia.
It also advised them to obey the laws and regulations of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and to pray for peace and progress in Kano State and Nigeria during the pilgrimage.
Daily Trust reports that Kano is among the states with the highest number of pilgrims participating in this year’s Hajj exercise.
