Last season, First Deepwater coached by Lateef Epinfolami sneaked in to break the dominance of First Bank by emerging champions of the sixth edition.

It promises to be a ding dong affair as the two Lagos clubs are currently running neck to neck having recorded hundred percent run so far in the first phase.

A look at the performance of the two clubs shows that the defending champions defeated Customs 79 points, FCT 84, AHIP 80, Immigration 85, Dolphin 73, Plateau 77, Delta 84 and Sunshine 65 to bring their points haul to 627.

On the other hand, First bank defeated AHIP 63 points, Customs 102, Dolphins 54, FCT 90, Immigration 87, Delta 81, Sunshine 64 and Plateau 62 to bring their total points to  603.

The two clubs have been breathing down each other’s neck but today’s match will determine who takes the first phase of the league.

Coach of First Deepwater, Epinfolami told Fever Pitch that it is a fixture that will determine who is truly the first.

“We are not under pressure because we are used to playing against First Bank. This is a match that will determine who is truly the first between us”.

His counterpart, Adewunmi Aderemi said it will be a good match because First Deepwater are really playing great basketball.

“We are going to witness a good game. I have told my girls to take it easy. They do not need to put themselves under pressure. I want them to enjoy themselves and also win the crucial match”.

Aderemi said he has since put behind him the first phase as he is looking towards the second phase of the league.
