All necessary arrangements have been concluded in an effort to organize first Hausa TV reality show tagged ‘Kannywood Next Movie Star’, Kano Chronicle has learnt.
The TV reality show was said to be initiated basically to empower youths who have ambition of being actors and actresses in the Hausa movie business.
It could be recalled that the Hausa movie industry has over the years recorded a lot of development in content and other technical aspects of movie production. For over two decades of the emergence of home videos in Hausa region, many analysts have accepted the fact that a lot of development intervention had been injected into the system which made it what it is today. However, these innovations also came across a lot of criticisms and counter criticisms from other analysts and professionals.
No doubt, the industry’s story lines, scripts, directing and marketing systems have improved within the last two decades and that made the industry to gain recognition from multi-national firms, an opportunity initially eluding the sector. Awards nights were organised to encourage the practitioners and funds were allocated to the industry from government intervention to train them and a lot of other interventions encompasses the Hausa movie industry.
At the moment, an indigenous entertainment promotion company Bidbit Multimedia limited has come up with the proposal of sponsoring a first Hausa TV reality show tagged ‘Kannywood Next Movie Star’. The show, according to the company, aimed at training and developing talented artists coupled with making them available to the industry thereby up scaling the practice of the art of acting.
At a press conference held in Kano, the reality show project manager, Mr. Babs Oyeniyi stated that there was no doubt that the development and growth of the film industry was hinged on the quality of talents produced or attracted from time to time. He said the need for strong private investors’ involvement in the sector was the reason  the Bidbit Multimedia limited wade in and came up with such new innovation that would aid the emergence of newly well-trained artists to give the industry modern outlook in the global entertainment sector.
“We can’t continue to berate the industry of low quality and sub-standard out-put when the raw materials, the skilled talent are few. We have asked ourselves this question ‘how many stars has the industry produced in the last two years?’ however, most of these stars are self-made, products of personal training and discipline without formal training,“ he said, adding that, “the date of the commencement of the audition and the venue of the audition will be announced soon.”
While shading more light on the reality show, the initiator of the show Mr. Oladimeji Victor stated that the show would run for 30 days with 30 contestants that would be selected during the audition to be conducted in established zones across the 19 northern states.
 He said: “Twenty contestants will be evicted within the 30 days and male/female winners will emerged among the final ten contestants.”
According to him the final ten contestants would have their first feature film location contract immediately at the end of the show. The show would be syndicated on major Hausa Channels and other channels on satellite and terrestrial TV stations; the program would also be supported with reviews and hypes on radio, newspaper and online platforms.
Similarly the patron of the show Alhaji Abdulkarim Muhammad stated that the project will ensure that religion and culture were well guarded before and during the show. According to him, “contestants will go through academy programs that include art performance, art courses, acting, dancing, singing, skill acquisition among other things while on the camp.”
Muhammad also said the show would be moderated by judges and other major supports personalities to be selected from veterans and practicing artists in Kannywood, Nollywood and academia. The two winners at the end of the show  would be given a branded car with a one year artistic management contract each.
