Wife of the President Mrs Aisha Buhari said in Lagos on Monday that strong family values should be cherished and nurtured in order to surmount the challenges of poverty and crime in Nigeria. Represented by wife of the Imo State Governor Mrs Nneoma Okorocha, Mrs Buhari allegedly said that “love, support, friendship and guidance are key qualities necessary in the family.” Was she really the one who is saying this? You First Lady, who went and criticised your husband on international airwaves, which support and friendship was that? You even provoked him to answer you, also on the international stage. Is that how to nurture strong family values?
If Obaseki betrays Oshiomhole
Edo State’s rambunctious outgoing Governor Adams Oshiomhole said in Abuja on Monday that he does not care if his incoming successor Godwin Obaseki betrays him because there is nothing in the oath of office to be taken by Obaseki that stipulates that he shall not betray his predecessor. Is that his only reason? After adopting a do-or-die method that installed Obaseki as his successor, why is Oshiomhole crying so soon about betrayal? It looks like there is a secret clause in that oath of office which says a successor must betray his predecessor. Who is it in Nigeria that ever anointed another person to succeed him as governor and was not betrayed? Oshiomhole, better get prepared to be betrayed.
Governors, next time take to the radio
When Governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress [APC] asked President Muhammadu Buhari last Monday to change some of his nominees for non-career ambassadors, he asked them to put their demand in writing. Is it because they did not take to the BBC Hausa Service with their grudges? The last time someone aired party members’ grudges on the radio, did the president ask the person to put it in writing before he responded? Next time, APC governors should not seek a private meeting to express their grudges. They should just take to the radio.
NNPC and N145/l fuel
Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation [NNPC] said through its Group General Manager, Crude Oil Marketing Department Mr. Mele Kyari that the current pump price of petrol of N145 per litre is “difficult to sustain” because of “the nation’s difficult business environment.” In other words, they want to hike the price to something else. NNPC, you are complaining that the business environment is difficult and you now want to make it impossible. Let me ask you something; all the fat salaries and allowances that you fat-cats in NNPC are earning, is it sustainable?
Anti-Malu FCT Minister?
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Malam Muhammad Musa Bello met with members of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria and directed them to stop cattle grazing in Abuja metropolis. He said “there is no way such animals can co-habit with the residents.” Imagine, a Fulani man like him saying people cannot share the same space with cows! All the people that have been living with cows in thousands of rugga all over the country, did they die? I am suspecting this Minister has been recruited by Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose to be a marshal in his Anti-Malu Squad. Fayose and Bello have a joint agenda of banishing all the cows. Anti-Malu Governor and Anti-Malu Minister.
