According to him, the union has eleven million registered members, saying they are targeting one million more members by September.
He said, “The collaboration involves that the members of the union will open accounts at Wema Bank, while the bank will capture data.
“The bank will build one market each in the geopolitical zones of the country. They will also provide a health subsidy to each of the registered members.”
Speaking at the event, the national President of the federation, Mohammed Alhaji Laminu said that the mobilization campaign would leave Abuja and subsequently move to Makurdi, Benue State Nasarawa, among other states.
Laminu lauded the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and ministries of Marine Blue Economy, Livestock, and Agriculture and Food Security.
He, however, commended Wema Bank and presidents of other cooperatives.
In his remarks, the chairman Abuja Fresh Fish Sellers Association Aminu Adam, said members would benefit immensely from the collaboration
He said, “Our plan as we collaborate with Wema Bank is to get the data of our members captured. The bank promised to boost our business with financial assistance. Our members are very happy with the programme.
“Our members will be training for fish farmers. The union has to contribute smoking kits; inputs and facilities needed in the project.”
