Plainclothes policemen in Kano State have arrested a fisherman accused of giving information to thieves who burgled several houses.

Police spokesman in the state, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the arrest of the fisherman who, he said, is in his 50s and married with kids.

Kiyawa did not disclose his name, saying investigation is ongoing.

Daily Trust gathered that the arrest followed complaints from residents of Dorayi Jakada in Gwale LGA of persistent thefts in the night when many were asleep.

The suspect, according to the police, had confessed to having aided the thieves to burgle at least 95 houses in Dorayi and was given part of the loot.
