‘Moana’ – Animation| Adventure | Comedy | Family
Christmas is incomplete without animation and Weekend Magazine if suggesting the recently release, ‘Moana.’ It is a Disney Christmas movie about the journey of the young woman, who has great navigational talents. She begins an adventure to find a mythical island in this entertaining story with great pictures. ‘Moana’ is one of Disney’s best animated 2016 Christmas movies for kids, toddlers and families of all ages. It was directed by John Musker and Ron Clements.
The Wedding Party Romantic comedy | Drama
The movie is the story of 24-year-old Dunni an art gallery owner and only daughter of her parents. She took a vow of chastity with her IT entrepreneur fiancé, Dozie and as their wedding approaches, they are looking forward to a ground -breaking first night together as a married couple. Between matchmaking attempts on the bridal train, a wedding planner on a mission to succeed, the unruly behaviour of some ‘village’ guests, Dunni’s uncertainty about Dozie’s faithfulness during their courtship and souvenir saga among other unfolding dramas, the questions is on every lip as to whether the couple will go through their wedding reception unscathed.
‘Jackie’ – Historical drama | Biography
Natalie Portman plays Jackie Kennedy, surviving her shattered world after the assassination of her husband. Grief-stricken and traumatized, she holds fort, consoling and providing succor for both her children as she plans her husband’s funeral bearing in mind that she would soon be vacating the home she brought back to life. She is also aware of the fact that these first seven days after her husband’s death are crucial for the way history will remember her and define her husband’s legacy. Other cast members in the movie directed by Pablo Larraín, are Peter Sarsgaard, Greta Gerwig, Billy Crudup, John Hurt, Richard Grant, John Lynch and Beth Grant among others.
‘Office Christmas Party’ – Comedy
Jennifer Aniston, plays the CEO who tries to close her hard-partying brother’s (T.J. Miller) branch. To impress a potential client and close a sale that will save their jobs, he and his chief technical officer (Jason Bateman), must rally their co-workers and host an epic office Christmas party.
The movie also features Kate McKinnon, Jillian Bell, Courtney B. Vance, Vanessa Bayer, Jamie Chung and was directed by Will Speck and Josh Gordon.
‘La La Land’ – Romance | Musical
It is an apt movie for a quiet evening snuggling around loved ones. In ‘La La Land,’ Ryan Gosling (Sebastian) once again holds his fans spellbound in this romance musical as he stars alongside Emma Stone (Mia). Their common desire to do what they love is the magnet which drew the pair to one another. But with success comes pressures as they are faced with decisions that begin to fray the fragile fabric of their love affair. It is a struggle to maintain what their love story.
The movie also gives fans an insight to the acting side of music star, John Legend.
‘Meet Me in St. Louis’ – Family Drama
For the senior citizens we go down memory lane to 1944 with Vincente Minnelli’s Technicolor musical which follows a year in the life of the Smith family of Missouri, as they grapple with love, loss, and the 1904 World’s Fair. Although many may have seen the movie before, one cannot get tired of viewing Judy Garland’s pretty face and her searing rendition of ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.
