Five governors, others, discuss peace at Muslim Media Ramadan lecture

Five governors of Niger, Kogi, Kaduna, Katsina and Nasarawa states will join other stakeholders to discuss peace at the 10th annual Ramadan lecture of Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN) in Abuja.

Chairman of MMPN, Abuja chapter, Abdur-Rahman Balogun said in a statement that the lecture will hold on Sunday at the conference hall of the Abuja National Mosque from 10am.

He said that other stakeholders who will discuss the theme "Peace as a Catalyst for Development, the Media Challenge" are Alhaji Muhammad Bello, Minister of FCT as the chief host and Alhaji Lai Muhammed, Minister of Information and Culture as special guest of honour.

"The guest speakers are Prof. Ishaq Akintola, Director, Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), Hajia Aisha Umar-Yusuf, Editor, Muslim worldview and Mr. Cemal Yegit of Ufuk Foundation, Turkey. Alhaji Awwal Ibrahim, Emir of Suleja is the chairman of the occasion while Prof Is-haq Oloyede, NSCIA Secretary-General, will deliver a keynote address," Balogun said.

He listed other guests expected at the event as Hon. Sulaiman Lasun, Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives and other lawmakers; Hon. Kafayat Dabiri-Erewa, SSA Foreign Affairs and Diaspora to President Muhammadu Buhari and Barrister Adebayo Shittu, Minister of Communications.

All heads of government media as well as some selected private establishments and National President of NUJ, Waheed Odusile are equally expected at the one-day lecture.

Balogun said the topic was carefully selected to proffer solutions to the challenges facing the country in having everlasting peace geared towards development.
