Five Star Logistics Limited, one of the concessioniares at the Lagos ports, has boosted the federal government’s efforts towards eradication of the COVID 19 pandemic with a sum of N75 million.

The firm also provided a donation of 1,200 packs of hand sanitizers and 1,600 face masks worth N20m to the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

The gesture was in line with the initiatives of the NPA and the Nigerian maritime industry to support the federal government to rid the country of the coronavirus pandemic.

Presenting the items at the Tin Can Island Port (Complex), Apapa, yesterday, Mr Rigo Nazarri, the General Manager, Comet Shipping Group, the parent company of Five Star Logistics, said the presentation of the items was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility, which he said would go a long way in eradicating COVID-19 in Nigeria.

According to Nazarri, Five Star Logistics would remain resolute in its support to the federal government and people of Nigeria in ensuring that “we all work in hand in hand to help flush COVID-19 out of Nigeria and the whole world.”

Receiving the items on behalf of the management of NPA, the Port Manager, Tin Can Port (Complex), Abubakar Garba Musa, commended the Five Star Logistics management for donating the materials to NPA as part of efforts to curtail the spread of COVID-19 in Nigeria.

Musa said, “Let me appreciate you for aiding the request of our team, led by our Managing Director, during an assessment visit to all the terminals to assess the health challenges faced by terminal operators in regards to COVID-19.

“During the visit, she drew attention to the need to contribute to assist our workers who are there day and night working in the ports being an essential duty to keep the port operations running.

“I’m happy that you are here today with the items as your contributions to the fight against COVID-19. Be assured that the message will be conveyed to the management. The entire management of NPA and Port Complex Tin Can Island appreciate your contributions.”
