The Secretary of the Federation, Mr Umar Lambu, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Lagos that the federation would set up a Website to enlighten the public about what the sport was all about.

“So we are trying to make sure that we create a kind of Website; we have even started to collating data and all the necessary input that we can make, to get a consultant that will guide us so that people will be able to browse and know more about Fives.”

Lambu said at present, the sport was predominantly popular in the Northern part of the country.

He unfolded plans by the federation to stage competitions in other states where the sport was relatively unknown so as to popularise it.

He said the Sardauna Fives Tournament, which was the highest tournament in the country, would be held in December in Zaria.

He noted that Lagos State would be the first stop, stressing that they wanted Lagos to participate fully in the sport because it would be hosting the next National Sports Festival.

“Like in Lagos, we are trying to make sure it is involved in this affair.’’

He solicited support from sponsors so as to popularize the sport in the country.(NAN)
