Flavour in bitter feud with record label

The singer in a report said, “I have not been signed and there was no money involved. They gave me an apartment with no furniture. I bought my own car and I have moved to my own N3.5 Million Duplex in Festac… My current album is marketed by Obaino. A new album is supposed to seal the deal with them. And besides, I only met Mr. Obiagwu during a US performance and only signed a Memorandum of Understanding (M.O.U). The so-called partner (Mr. Ike Odelugo) is just playing rogue.”

On the other hand, Badbeats Records insisted they are ending their three-year contract deal because of Flavour’s nonchalant attitude towards the terms.  During a yet-to-be-aired interview with New Live Beats, one of the co-owners Anderson Obiagwu accused the highlife/pop star of disregarding the contract as a mere piece of paper. According to him, “He cancels shows that had earlier been scheduled by the Label to perform at self-profiting unscheduled shows. He features in several collaborations and puts up appearances in music videos by other artistes’ at the expense of his own projects without proper consultation and approval by the Badbeats Records management. Flavour once went to perform in three shows in Sierra Leone and failed to meet up with a visa appointment at the Canadian embassy for a show we had arranged for him in Canada.”

To back their claim of having a contract agreement with the artiste, Badbeats Records released a copy of the signed contract to us. Documents which carry Flavour’s signature as well as that of the label execs, signed on January 2nd, 2011. A fine of N300 Million for violation of any part of the terms and conditions was stated in the contract.
