The newly appointed chairman of Flight football club, Luter Iyorhe, popularly called “The Game Changer” said his dream is to lead the “Transporters” to victory in this year’s President Federation Cup.
The recent turnaround in the fortunes of the NationWide League One (NLO) side has been attributed to the appointment of the former player of Lobi Stars and Sharks of Port-Harcourt.
Under his leadership, the Gboko based club went unbeaten at the Makurdi Centre of the NLO to book their place in the national playoff where they are hoping to pick one of the Nigeria National League (NNL) tickets.
Similarly, the amateur side stunned their more illustrious opponents Lobi Stars 1-0 in the 2026 Benue FA Cup final, qualifying to represent the state at the national level.
In the Federation Cup Round of 64, Flight edged Adamawa Academy 2-1 to progress to the Round of 32 where they defeated Mighty Jets 5-4 on penalties to set up the Round of 16 clash with Bida Lions.
As the “Transporters” prepare for the biggest match in their history, Iyorhe said the ambition is not only to emerge as giant killers but go all the way to the final of Nigeria’s oldest club football competition.
“We have a tall ambition but it is not taller than our collective commitment towards the set goal.
“Flight FC is motivated enough to aspire to win this year’s Federation Cup. In the last edition, only a few people gave Abakaliki FC a chance but in the end, they played the title deciding match.
“Flight FC will continue to take one match at a time but we want to be this edition’s giant-killers. We believe in our ability to do the unimaginable,” said one of the youngest club chairmen in Nigeria.
Iyorhe also attributed the club’s success to the unwavering financial support from the owners of the club, Flight Transport Limited and the teeming supporters.
