Kupa is located in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State.
A devastating flood disaster destroyed houses and washed away farmlands in the villages of Ebwa, Kayinko, Fikara, Ellagi, Ellagan, Ekkan, Yaro, Edeku, Kuchelu Kukaragi, Rambagi, Migegi, Kpoku, Para Bushi, Kapu, Agini, Ebbe, Kinami and others around the riverine areas. Though no human casualty was recorded in terms of death, the victims are facing precarious situation.
However, the need for food, shelter and essential non-food items remains high among those displaced and in the villages where communities continue to reside in the water; large agricultural lands have been destroyed on which large investment will be needed to recover.
In respect to the above, we are calling on government at all levels and other relevant agencies such as FEMA, SEMA etc. to quickly come to our aid most especially as the governorship election approaches in November so as not to disenfranchise the good people of the areas being.
