Flood death toll rises to 21

The death toll as a result of heavy flood in Jigawa State has rose to 21 yesterday, the Executive Secretary of Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency, Yusuf Sani Babura, said.

Earlier, 16 people were reported dead in Ringim, Jahun and Miga LGAs as a result of overflow from the River Hadejia. Babura spoke yesterday in Hantsu village in Miga LGA .

According to him, the death toll rose after the death of five people was recorded in four LGAs.
He said his agency had distributed an immediate food relief comprising 3000 bags of garri, 100 bags of groundnut cake, sugar and salt, all put at N28 million.
