As the rainy season sets in, the FCT Department of Development Control has said plans are underway to divert human and vehicular traffic leading to the popular Lokogoma Estate to checkmate incidences of death arising from flood.
The director, Department of Development Control, Mukhtar Galadima, who stated this on Tuesday during a joint stakeholders’ visit to the estate, said the administration had set machinery in motion to ensure that no death is recorded from flooding in the 2025 rainy season.
While expressing disappointment with recalcitrant developers who continue to build on waterways despite several warnings to desist from such infractions, Galadima noted that part of the lasting solution the administration has mapped out for the area is a review of the infrastructural engineering of the estate.

This, he added, may lead to the demolition of several structures standing on waterways as well as the subsequent reopening of water channels to enable easy flow.
