Flood has killed 37 people and displaced 171,000 others in Adamawa State during this rainy season, the Executive Secretary, Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), Dr Muhammad Sulaiman, has said.

He said 58 people were injured while 89,000 hectares of farmland were submerged.

Sulaiman explained that it affected public and private property which included schools, hospitals, markets, houses and worship places, thereby affecting economic and social activities.

He lamented that the flooding had gone beyond prediction by the Nigerian authorities which was limited to the frontline communities along the banks of the River Benue in the state.

He said the agency had distributed relief materials to all the 10 camps set up for displaced persons following a directive from the state governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
