Flood: ‘Speed of construction work at ozuomee urualla drainage evidence of Ugochinyere’s effective representation’

The speed of ongoing construction work at Ozuomee Urualla and other communities in Ideato Federal Constituency of Imo state is one of the proofs of 2year excellent, responsive and effective representation by the member representing the Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere.

His victory in the 2023 general election did not come easy, as his journey was fraught with so many challenges orchestrated by opponents.

And since he won, he has delivered on many promises he made to his people, ensuring that they get dividends of democracy.

Through motions presented at plenary, the lawmaker sought for intervention to save the communities that were at the verge of collapse across ideato with most of them especially umuchima, Oba akokwa arondizuogu road receiving attention from govt.

And last month, Ozuomee community cried to the Federal lawmaker for intervention to save the major road leading into the community from been cut off, the lawmaker stormed the place immediately and assured of immediate intervention. Few days after his visit Ikenga Ugochinyere flagged off a 1.2km hydraulic drainage project aimed at controlling erosion and mitigating the effects of flooding in Ugwuano, Ozuomee, Urualla communities. The construction work within weeks has crossed 60 percent, nearing completion. The lawmaker is determined taking the drainage straight into the urashi river to help ensure the devastating flood does not cut of Ozuomee.

Recall that during his visit to the site last month, he said the drainage lines will take the erosion run-off down to the Urashi River and also opening the roads to make it motorable down to the river, to help the farmers and the indigenes.

He said, “My intervention measure to construct 1.2km new drainage just to redirect the water that is causing the heavy flood that is threatening or about to cut the only linking road. I am channeling the water once I finish the drainage directly to orashi river thereby stopping the continued worsening of the erosion while seeking and calling on FG, works, NDDC, state govt to intervene to find a lasting solution.

“The work which took off this week will run non stop until the new drainage down to orashi is completed. I made the promise when I visited the community few weeks ago and now I am doing it like I did to the umuchima gully erosion.”
