General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Musa Amadu, confirmed the departure of the squad after a family meeting led by NFF President Aminu Maigari at the team’s Somitel Hotel in Port Harcourt Thursday night.

The Nigeria U-20 team are booked into the Southern Sun Grayston in Johannesburg, and will play their Group B matches at the Rand Stadium.

The team won their final tune-up match by beating Nigeria Premier league side Sharks 3-1 at the Sharks Stadium, Port Harcourt, Thursday night.

Enugu Rangers striker Uche Nwofor grabbed a brace with Dolphin star midfielder Chidi Osuchukwu also getting on the score sheet in the first half.

Sharks stepped up their game in the second half to pull a goal back through a penalty after Ganiu Ogunde was adjudged to have handled the ball inside his box.

The NPL outfit, who Thursday also received their brand-new cars from the Rivers State government for winning the sub-regional WAFU Cup, were very physical.

The Flying Eagles take on reigning world champions and bitter rivals, Black Satellites of Ghana, in the opening match of Group B at the Rand Stadium on Monday, a day after the opening ceremony.
