The bank also said that civil servants in the state has contributed N1.4 billion into its coffers through the National Housing Fund (NHF) while it has paid refunds amounting to N47.2 million to retired contributors.
This was contained in an address of the FMBN board chairman, Chief Bisi Ogunjobi.
“The relationship between Abia State and the bank has been more than cordial. It is, therefore, considered worthy to have a beffitting presence represented by this newly completed office complex,”  Ogunjobi stated in his address delivered by Dr. Godwin Duru, the Director representing South East on the FMBN board.
The Chairman noted that the project was completed in record six months due to the cooperation of all the stakeholders, incuding the Abia State government which gave all needed approvals, Labour unions, civil servants and the general citizenry who are contributing to the NHF, adding the that the office would facilitate efforts by the bank to continue to ameliorate housing shortage in Abia.
Ogunjobi expressed hapiness that Abia State was actively participating in the NHF, adding that the construction of a new 500 housing units estate in Abia for civil servants was being considered for approval and called for continued collaboration between the bank and its stakeholders to promote home ownership in the state.
Duru said he was happy that the project has been realised and commended the bank for heeding to his request for building of permanent office blocks in the South East states where they do not exist.
In their goodwill messages, Abia State Head of Service, Chief Godson Adiele, Chairman of Abia State Joint Negotiating Council,  Comrade Chris Okoro, and his predecessor, Comrade Lovina Okoro, commended the bank for building the ofice complex.
Adiele, represented by a Permanent Secretary, Mrs Uzoamaka Ikonne, said the state government was committed to the well-being of its citizens, especially the workers through provision of affordable, decent accommodation.
