Chief Lulu-Briggs also distributed more than 10,000 copies of a  which contained information on the deadly Ebola virus to women in the state.
Handing over the cancer screening kits to the benefactors in Port Harcourt, Lulu-Briggs said the gesture is his way of appreciating women for the role they play in keeping families together.
He said the cancer kits as well as the handbook on Ebola virus would assist women know about the two diseases and how to handle them.
“One has to appreciate women in what they are doing to keep the home together. I personally have a good upbringing and my mother played a good role in bringing me up. What I thought we should do is to see how we can help them to live a  healthy life. I have found a way of helping the women by giving them the tools they will use to detect weather they are or not developing cancer as to nip it on the bud. It is important for us to know that all the women in rural areas who are most vulnerable to this diseases would have the benefit of having this kits. We have procured about 1,000 of it and we have placed order for more to enable us reach out to rural women in the state.”
“Another issue is the deadly Ebola disease. The President has declared a national emergency on Ebola. This is a right step in the  right direction towards fighting this scourge. It is very important to enlighten people about this deadly virus. So the much we can do is to provide basic information on how the virus can affect the people. We have put together the whole information about the virus in a small pamphlet to educate and enlighten the public about the virus.
“There are rumours concerning Ebola which has misled the people. A friend of mine told me how his mother took a lot of salt as a measure to guide against Ebola. My friend almost collapsed because the woman is hypertensive. You know an hypertensive patient does not need much salt. So it is important that we educate the public about the virus as not to misled them.
“Am happy that Nigerians are becoming more enlightened about the virus. Sound health is the foundation of everything you do. If you are not healthy, you will not be able to access education, you will not be productive, you cannot even work. So we know that health is very fundamental,” he said.
