FMC in Keffi suspends 3 staff over official misconduct

Dr Giyan Joshua-Ndom, the Medical Director of the centre, disclosed the development at a press conference in Lafia on Friday.

He said that the action would serve as deterrent to others and ensure quality health care delivery at the center

He said that with the determination of the hospital management to improve on the health and living condition of Nigerians, the centre would not tolerate acts of indiscipline and disobedience to the constituted authority by staff.

“This press conference has become imperative considering the attitude of these three staff who were bent on tarnishing the hard-earned reputation of the centre and some individuals in the management, thereby making a mess of the giant strides we have made in recent times.

“The three members of staff namely, Sani Mohammed-Ango, Tijani Zakari and Shuaibu Abdullahi, have been in the habit of this unwholesome practice for quite some time now and their destructive tendencies were clandestine as far as 2010.

“But when their nefarious adventure came to lime light, they declared themselves as outlaws with total disregard to Public Service Rules.

“The root cause of their grievance is management refusal to grant their demands of personal favour.

“They have been making baseless accusations and writing petitions against management to security operatives, brandishing documents likely stolen from the centre claiming to be implicating evidences, but most of which are incorrect or overtaken by events.

“In all these, we have always been exonerated after careful investigation and when the management tried to call them to order, they refused and blatantly flouted management‘s invitation to appear before its Senior Disciplinary Committee,’’ he said.

Joshua-Ndom said that the thee suspended staff were bent on mischief making and hence they were interdicted by the Public Service Rule and having been on interdiction for six months, they have been suspended indefinitely.

“They sought redress in the court, however, the court ruled in favour of the management, they are relentless and so appealed against the court ruling,” he added.

The medical director restated the commitment of the management to improve on the welfare of its staff and patients and called on them to complement government’s efforts by hard work to ensure quality service delivery.
