The Commissioner for health, Pharmacist Patrick Maigari who disclosed this in an interview said that the drugs will be available in the next few weeks for onward distribution to various facilities in the state.
“The FMCH programme is still very much alive and the state government is very interested in it. In the next few weeks, we will have the drugs so that we can replenish all the stocks that has depleted because most of the complains so far are out-of-stock-syndrome but very soon, we will be able to overcome the problem,” he said.
According to him, FMCH covers specific diseases including pre-natal and ante-natal care for pregnant women as well as the six killer diseases for children under the age of five.
He however assured of constant monitoring and evaluation of all facilities and personnel to ensure efficiency, noting that a mechanism has been put in place to ensure very good feedback on what the staff are doing and to know whether the system is working or not.
He however disclosed that a charter will soon be passed to the public to make sure that they have a clear picture on who to contact where services are not rendered to their satisfaction.
