Speaking at the maiden edition of the National Conference of Certified Librarians in Nigeria, organised by the Librarian Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN) in Abuja, Wike said the books were meant to improve teaching and learning at the basic level of the nation’s education system.
According to him, the Federal Government is working assiduously to improve access to quality education through the Ministry by the construction of e-libraries, provision of scholarships amongst others saying   “these are all to ensure growth at all levels of education.”
He urged the librarians to collaborate with other Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) as well as civil society organizations to work towards getting the libraries transformed and library services improved.
  LRCN Registrar/CEO, Dr. Victoria Okojie said the level of participation of certified librarians at the National Conference signaled a new dawn for the practice of librarianship, adding that the LRCN has inducted a 3, 264 members.
“The aim of the Conference was not just to build the certified librarians’ professional capacity for effective and efficient information service delivery, but also to empower them with knowledge and provide an avenue for interaction, exchange of ideas and network on global best practices and trends,’’ she said.
