The Federation of Construction Industry (FOCI) has established an academy for training those who are employed and those yet to be employed in masonry, electrical and plumbing.
President of the Federation of Construction Industry (FOCI), Engr. Nasiru Dantata, who spoke to Daily Trust, said that the establishment of a skills academy by FOCI, a body that brings together construction employers, material suppliers and manufacturers, is a way of giving back to society.
The FOCI skills academy, which he said, is meant to improve and enhance skills, has received technical and financial assistance from the German Government through one of its programmes in Nigeria and construction giant, Julius Berger, which graciously provided the training and workshop space.
Engr. Nasiru said some Germans are currently conducting a train-the-trainers training for the academy and FOCI was collaborating with the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) in Kaduna to adopt a curriculum and ensure certification of members.
