An international food festival is set to launch a variety of international cuisines in Abuja on Saturday.
The festival called For the Love of Food, and sponsored by Mercedes Benz Abuja, is an effort to create cross-cultural appreciation through ready to eat delicacies close to the bellies of different countries and tribes, Sheriff Oyeleke, communications officer and one of the organisers from Mercedes Benz, said.
He said: “For the Love of Food is about culture and appreciating the diversity that exists in Abuja and Nigeria as a whole. The event is aimed at uniting people from different countries, cultures, ethnic groups and faiths. Through the love of food, it also seeks to educate and foster a greater understanding that exists amongst the people.”
“For the Love of Food launch which is taking place at the Sarius Palmetum, Botanical Garden, IBB Boulevard, Maitama, will be an annual event that will eventually include a variety of activities including dancing, art exhibition, music and fashion that will represent the various cultural groups present,” he said.
