The Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, has called on farmers across the state to take advantage of the rainy season by returning to their farms to boost food production and strengthen economic activities.

Speaking shortly after hosting Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, to a durbar to mark the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the emir advised youths to engage in meaningful and productive ventures to contribute positively to society, while avoiding social vices and acts capable of undermining peace.

Assuring Governor Yahaya of the continued loyalty, support and prayers of the traditional institution, he expressed confidence in the administration’s commitment to delivering more dividends of democracy to the people of Gombe State.

The emir also urged Muslims to reflect on the spiritual significance of Eid-el-Kabir by embracing the virtues of obedience, sacrifice, patience and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah.

He commended Governor Yahaya for creating the Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), describing it as a visionary policy capable of bringing governance and development closer to the grassroots.

Our correspondent reports that Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya had led top government officials, political leaders and other dignitaries to the Emir’s palace to witness the colourful traditional mini Sallah Durbar, popularly known as Jafi, as part of activities marking the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

The event showcased the rich cultural heritage of the Gombe emirate, with the Emir of Gombe, Abubakar III, district heads, traditional title holders and a large contingent of horse riders adorned in magnificent traditional regalia paying homage in a display of loyalty, unity and tradition.
