The use of digital technology translated into local languages will mitigate the effect of climate change and boost food security in the rural areas.

This was noted at a-two day workshop on “Promoting digital solutions for farmers in remote communities to adapt to climate change”.

The programme, which was hosted by Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, in partnership with Digisol Project, was sponsored by the European Union (EU) for farmers in three local government areas of Asa, Moro and Ifelodun.

The project Team Leader, Chris Addy Nayo, said the project would be a game changer for rural farmers in the country and will alleviate the problems of poor yields.

Earlier, Country Project Coordinator, Prof Chris Emenyonu said climate change is not restricted to a region, country or community, adding that “Environment peculiarities may make a country or region have some predisposed issues about it.”

Speaking, the Vice Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University, Prof Noah Yusuf said the project was to gain inroads to farmers in the three local government areas.
