A food vendor, simply identified as Falmata Abubakar (45), has been found dead near the Federal University Gashu’a, Yobe State.

According to multiple sources, residents of the town saw her lifeless body dumped by the roadside and alerted security agencies.

“Nobody knows who killed her or where they took her from; we only saw her lifeless body dumped by her killers,” one of the sources said.

“I know her very well; she was a food vendor at the motor park and vegetable market in Gashu’a. She was a peaceful woman,” another source said.

Other residents of Gashu’a town have appealed to security agencies to fish out her killers with a view to nipping in the bud the strange killings of innocent citizens.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, said the body was immediately evacuated to the Specialist Hospital, Gashua, where a medical doctor examined it and confirmed her dead.

The PPRO said the corpse was released to her family after an autopsy for proper burial according to Islamic rites.

He said the victim, identified as Falmata Abubakar, 45, a resident of Abasha, Sarkin Hausawa Ward, Gashua, was found dressed in a black hijab.

He further said the investigation revealed that the deceased was transported in a vehicle and dumped at the location where she was found—approximately two kilometers away from her residence.

He said detectives had begun investigations to identify and apprehend the killers.
