A former Bauchi State deputy governor, Alhaji Garba Gadi, is dead.
He was 70 years old.
Gadi died at an undisclosed hospital in India after a protracted illness.
Captain Bala Jibrin, a close associate of the former deputy governor, confirmed to our reporter on telephone that he died around 4:00 am Nigerian time.
He said that the body of late Garba Gadi was expected in Nigeria and might be buried on Friday.
Late Gadi who was deputy governor to former governor Mallam Isah Yuguda, became a stalwart of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Gadi who was the Danburan Katagum, was deputy governor from 2007 to 2011. He was impeached at a time by the Bauchi State Assembly but was returned by the court.
He became a leading member of the APC after serving as the National Chairman of the merger committee which supervised the coalescing of CPC with other political parties that gave birth to the APC.
He is survived by three wives and 15 children.
