Former deputy speaker in Ebonyi dumps PDP for APC

The immediate past deputy speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Odefa Obasi Odefa, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to pitch tent with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Odefa made the switch alongside about 500 of his supporters from his Onicha East Constituency.

He made this known at the Government House Abakaliki yesterday during a visit to the state governor, Francis Nwifuru.

Speaking on his defection, the former deputy speaker said his decision to pitch tent with the APC was to rally support for the governor in his efforts to transform the state.

Responding, Nwifuru assured that his administration would not victimize anybody from the opposition parties who are willing to join the APC, maintaining that the door of APC is open to accommodate members of PDP.

Odefa represented Onicha East in the State House of Assembly between 2007 and 2023.
