Former Ekiti PDP guber aspirant, Fayose, meets Aregbesola

Barely 24 hours after resigning from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Otunba Emmanuel Fayose, has held a meeting with Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Daily Trust learnt that the meeting held in Abuja on Friday.

Sources close to one of Fayose’s aides confirmed that the Ekiti-born politician is set to pitch his tent with the ADC.

During the consultation visit, Aregbesola was said to have assured him of a “welcoming political home” and encouraged him to join the party without delay.

Fayose had on Thursday announced his resignation from the PDP at a press conference. He described the opposition party as a “compromised platform” and accused its leadership of serving as stooges for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The former aspirant, who was considered one of PDP’s frontline contenders in Ekiti, said the decision became necessary to pursue what he called “a credible political alternative.”

With his imminent move to the ADC, political observers are closely watching how his defection could reshape alignments in Ekiti State ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Ekiti.
