Hon. Ezekiel Musa Dalhatu, the former Commissioner for the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) representing the FCT, has formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The move comes after Dalhatu, a former chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the FCT, announced his resignation from his former party last week, as previously reported by Daily Trust.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after picking up his ADC membership card at his Gudun-Karya ward in the Kuje Area Council on Monday, Dalhatu said his decision to join the party was driven by a desire to contribute his quota and ensure adequate representation for the people of the FCT.
He noted that given the current trajectory of the country’s political terrain, it was necessary to diversify his political participation rather than remain in a single party.
“We don’t all need to be in one political party; that is not good for our democracy. Democracy is all about participation and involvement in the scheme of affairs,” he said.
Dalhatu explained that he felt it was the right time to move with his supporters to the ADC to contribute to the development of the FCT.
According to him, the role of the opposition is not merely to criticize leaders, but also to pray for them and raise critical issues that ensure citizens feel the impact of governance.
The ADC Gudun-Karya ward chairman, Ibrahim Dikko, commended Dalhatu for his decision after formally presenting him with his membership card.
He stated that the arrival of the former PDP chieftain would significantly strengthen the ADC and help the party wax stronger.
