The immediate past Chairman of Lobi Stars FC, and Permanent Secretary, Benue State Ministry of Youth, Sports and Creativity, Dr. Philip Nongu, has bagged the title of Tor-fan-Anumbe u Tyoshin (The sporty coach of Tyoshin Kingdom), one of the Council’s most illustrious chieftaincy distinctions.
The conferment was performed on Sunday, November 23, with full traditional solemnity by the Chairman of the Tyoshin Traditional Council, His Royal Highness, Chief Daniel Ayua Abomtse, Ter Tyoshin, in the revered traditional chambers.
In a related development, Dr. Nongu’s wife, Chief Mrs. Comfort Mbalahan Nongu, was honoured as Kwaghfan U Torfan-Anumbe U Tyoshin (The Wisdom of the Sporty Coach of Tyoshin Kingdom), an eloquent tribute to her intellect, poise, and devotion to the ideals that define their collective service.
The ceremony, earlier deferred following the demise of the oldest District Head, unfolded in resplendent colour, reaffirming the timeless authority of the Tyoshin cultural institution.
With this induction, Dr. Nongu now stands as a fully confirmed Chief of the Tyoshin land, adorned not only with a title but with the weight of heritage, honour, and communal expectation.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Nongu said the honour bestowed on him and his wife was deeply appreciated.
“My wife and I are highly elated to be honoured with such an important title by the father of Tyoshin land.
“I see this honour as a further call to service. The commitment is to work tirelessly for the betterment of Tyoshin, to uphold the shared heritage, and to contribute to the peace, prosperity, and positive transformation of Tyoshin and the state as a whole,” said Chief Nongu.
