Former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ehiozuwa Johnson Agbonayima, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State.

Agbonayima, who didn’t disclose his destination, said he is in race for  the Egor/Ikpoba Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives.

Addressing journalists Agbonayima, who represented  the federal constituency between 2015 and 2019,  hinged his resignation on what he described as imposition by some leaders of the party in the State.

He said as the leader of APC in Ikpoba Okha local government, he couldn’t have a say in who represents his ward 6, as a councillor in the just concluded  local government primary election in the State.

“As a leader in my ward, I nominated a councilor, but was rejected by a State party leader but when a leader from another Local Government intervened, the same person they rejected from me was accepted”.

He said it is now distressing that the  constituency is gradually becoming the property of one or a few individuals who are unnecessarily and undemocratically interfering in political providence of the party in his Local Government.

He said, “Having observed a series of anti democratic tendencies and activities, I regret to inform you of my decision to resign my membership of the APC with immediate effect.

“Politics is about people, I don’t even have a gateman, a messenger or a council that I could recommend in this government.

“I can’t be in a party where I am not important or where my inputs is don’t count or where leader from other local government decide what happened in my wards and Local Government.”
