Kodjo led a powerful delegation to the Agency.
Mr. Kodjo who is currently the President of PAX Africana a Non-Governmental Organisation on drug trafficking, said NAFDAC under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Paul Orhii has gained international accolade and reputation as the global leader in the war against drug counterfeiting and efforts to increase access of Nigerians and other Africans to good quality, safe and efficacious drugs.
He noted that Dr Orhii’s emergence as the chairman of the World Health Organisation’s newly established 193 Member State Mechanism (MSM) on Suspicious, substandard, falsely-labelled, falsified and counterfeit medical products has given a lot of hope, joy and pride to Africa in area of food and drug regulation world wide.
The former Togolese Prime Minister said. “We led a mission  on the problem of drug trafficking and we were told that there is an institution here in Nigeria doing a very good job. We do believe that it is up to you to brief us on the activities of the agency.”
The former OAU scribe stated that his NGO was prepared to work with NAFDAC on the hydra-headed problem of cross border drug trafficking and urged the agency to play the “Big Brother” role by assisting and sharing with other African nations her successes.
Responding, Dr. Orhii expressed the deep appreciation of the management of NAFDAC and disclosed that NAFDAC’s success can be attributed to the overwhelming support and encouragement of President Goodluck Jonathan, Minister of Health, Prof. Christian Onyebuchi Chukwu, the NAFDAC Governing Council and management.
The Director  General assured that NAFDAC would not relent but  continue to strive for the total elimination of counterfeit drugs from the African continent while making sustained efforts to increase self-sufficiency in production of essential medicines and access of the people to good quality medicines.
