A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Yobe State, Sen. Mohammed Hassan, has joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Hassan, popularly known as Dambu, represented Yobe South Senatorial District in the last assembly. He formally defected to APC in Abuja and was received by Yobe State Governor and Chairman of APC Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Mai Mala Buni.

The defection was witnessed by the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, Senator Ibrahim Bomoi (APC, Yobe South), Minister of Power, Engr. Abubakar D. Aliyu and the state APC chairman, Alhaji Muhammadu Gadaka.

Mamman Mohammed, the Director General Press Affairs and Media to Buni in a statement said the exit of the former legislator has created a huge vacuum for the opposition party at both state and national levels.

“Sen. Dambu pledged his loyalty and support to the party leadership in the state and to work for its success at all levels.

“The movement of Sen. Dambu into the party will increase the fortunes of the party in Zone ‘B’ Senatorial District and the state,” the statement added.
