Fortis Bank, Lafarge to produce 500 houses this year

Fortis Microfinance Bank Plc and cement producing firm Lafarge on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Abuja for low cost housing.
According to the MoU, Fortis Microfinance Bank will produce 500 homes for buyers within this year while Lafarge will render technical assistance that will remove cost elements and make house construction cheap.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Fortis Microfinance Bank, Mr Tiko Okoye said N600 million is earmarked for the 500 houses covered in the agreement.
Okoye who noted that the MoU is “to solve micro housing needs of Nigerians” said products for the houses will be sourced from Lafarge.
CEO of Aggregates & Concrete, Lafarge, Loren Zanin said his company will provide cost effective technology like concrete slabs for the houses to be built.
