The Concerned Christian Youth Forum (CCYF) has expressed support for the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and other groups calling attention to the killings and insecurity affecting Christian communities in parts of the country.
In a statement issued on Friday in Abuja, the Convener of the group, James Paul Adama, said the Forum aligned itself with CAN’s recent position urging the government and the international community to act decisively to end attacks on citizens, particularly in areas affected by religious and communal violence.
Adama noted that several international and national figures, including President Bola Tinubu, had at various times called for an end to violence targeting Nigerians on the basis of faith or ethnicity.
He cited reports of growing concern from foreign lawmakers and international groups, saying these reflect the need for stronger global advocacy to support peace and justice efforts in Nigeria.
According to the statement, some expressions of solidarity had also been seen recently, including gestures from international communities and organizations urging attention to the plight of victims of insecurity.
The Forum appealed to government authorities at all levels to intensify efforts to protect vulnerable communities and bring perpetrators of violence to justice.
“The lives of all Nigerians, regardless of religion or ethnicity, must be valued equally, and every effort should be made to ensure peace and security,” Adama stated.
He reaffirmed the group’s commitment to peaceful advocacy and cooperation with relevant stakeholders to promote unity, tolerance, and lasting peace in the country.
