The Progressive Disability Forum (PDF), the disability wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has cautioned against disqualifying a former governor of Nasarawa State, Sen. Tanko Al-Makura from the party’s chairmanship race on account of disability.

In a letter signed by its National Co-ordinator, Abdulaziz Onibare, addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari, the forum noted the party would be in contravention of the National Disability Act and APC’s Constitution if such move succeeds.

“It has come to our notice that some groups of people are moving around castigating the person of His Excellency, Sen. Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, questioning his capacity on the basis of his disability.

“They didn’t question his capacity when he was contributing his millions, time and energy for the progress of the party,” the letter reads in part.

It added that Al-Makura has the capacity to lead the party to victory in 2023 if given the mandate.
