Forum offsets hospital bills of indigent patients

Cash Managers’ Forum, made up of the Central Bank of Nigeria and all the deposit money banks, has augmented the cost of treatment for four patients in Abuja.

The beneficiaries are two patients each at the National Hospital Abuja and the Garki Specialist Hospital.

After handing over the undisclosed cash to the beneficiaries at the weekend, the Branch Controller, Central Bank of Nigeria, Abuja, Prof Frank Amagwu, said the gesture was part of the Corporate Social Responsibility of the Forum.

He said: “We are here on behalf of the cash managers Forum in Abuja. Every year, we try to touch lives in line with our corporate social responsibility. This is different from what the banks do on their own or what CBN does.”

Prof Amagwu said it was the hospitals that identified the patients in need of assistance to offset their medical bills, adding that the selection was done objectively.

Mr Simon Usman, an admin officer at the Garki Specialist Hospital, received the monetary donation on behalf of the two patients who benefitted from the gesture in the hospital.
