The Zahra Relief Foundation has commenced its 2026 Ramadan Feeding Programme, beginning with the distribution of Iftar meals to vulnerable residents in Maraba, Abuja.

The initiative officially started on Thursday, 2nd Ramadan 1447AH (February 19, 2026), with the first phase of the feeding exercise held at Ruga Yar Kasuwa, Maraba, where hundreds of beneficiaries received meals.

In a press statement signed by Abdulrahman Muhammad, Head of the Corporate Communications Department, the Foundation said the programme is designed to support individuals and families who may struggle to meet their food needs during the holy month.

“The programme began on Thursday, 2nd Ramadan 1447AH (19th February 2026), with the distribution of Iftar meals to beneficiaries,” the statement read.

According to the Foundation, the exercise will involve daily Iftar meal distribution throughout Ramadan as part of its broader humanitarian efforts.

“The programme involves daily Iftar meal distribution throughout the month as part of the Foundation’s effort to support individuals and families who may face difficulty meeting their food needs during Ramadan,” it stated.

The organisation noted that its activities are inspired by humanitarian values rooted in Islamic tradition.

“It draws inspiration from the humanitarian values of Sayyida Fatimah al-Zahra (S.A), daughter of Prophet Muhammad (S), whose life exemplified compassion, generosity, and service to those in need,” the statement added.

The Foundation disclosed that the feeding programme will extend to other parts of Abuja and selected states across the country.

“The Ramadan Feeding Programme will continue across other areas in Abuja and selected states nationwide, In Sha Allah, as part of the Foundation’s commitment to humanitarian support and social welfare,” it said.

The Foundation also revealed that it aims to feed 10,000 beneficiaries this year, a significant increase from the 4,000 people reached in 2025.

“This year, the Foundation targets to feed 10,000 beneficiaries, representing a significant increase from the 4,000 people reached last year,” the statement noted.

The organisation expressed appreciation to donors and partners supporting the initiative.

“Zahra Relief Foundation appreciates the generous support of donors, partners, and well-wishers whose contributions continue to make this humanitarian effort possible,” the statement concluded.

The feeding exercise is expected to continue until the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
