Foundation donates books to 2 Kano varsities

A Kano-based Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Al-Ihsan Social Intervention, has donated 500 books valued at over N7 million to Bayero University, Kano (BUK) and Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano (YUMSUK).
The NGO, founded by the Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), Ahmed Idris, gave each of the two universities 250 copies of Accounting and Finance-related textbooks as part of its contribution to educational development.

Speaking while presenting the books, the Secretary of the foundation, Aliyu I. Daneji, called on the two universities to reciprocate the gesture by using the donation judiciously.
Responding, BUK Vice-Chancellor, Prof Sagir Adamu Abbas, said universities globally were sustained by their alumni and other philanthropists in form of donations and not by government alone.
He then called on the other NGOs and philanthropists to emulate the gesture and thanked the AGF and the foundation for the intervention.
Similarly, YUMSUK VC, Prof Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa, said the books would go a long way in helping his institution to scale the accreditation of National Universities Commission (NUC).
